Steven Rushton - Senior Management Team
Having graduated in Law at the University of Northumbria Steven completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law Chester before going on to obtain a Masters Degree in Legal Studies from the Metropolitan University of Manchester.
Having been a Partner at his previous firm for many years Steven was instrumental in setting up Rushton Hinchy. Steven has many years experience specialising in Personal Injury cases including complex and high value matters.
Steven’s role sees him in more of a managerial role and he is responsible for the strategic management of the firm including all regulatory compliance and finance issues.
Steven has also been appointed as the Compliance Officer For Legal Practice (COLP).
Carl Hinchy - Senior Management Team
Carl qualified as a Solicitor following a degree in Law at the University of Central Lancashire and completed his Legal Practice Course at Liverpool John Moores University.
Carl worked initially for some of the country's largest insurers before moving into law and ultimately specialising in the personal injury field.
Carl was a Partner at a large Claimant law firm before setting up Rushton Hinchy. He is now the Partner responsible for creating new business for the firm and maintaining existing corporate relationships.
Hilary Cliffe - Senior Management Team
Hilary began her legal career with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives before qualifying as a Solicitor. She completed her Legal Practice Course at John Moores University graduating with Commendation. Hilary has many years of experience and has dealt with complex and high value personal injury work.
Hilary was a Partner in a large North West law firm prior to setting up Rushton Hinchy. Hilary's role at Rushton Hinchy includes management and development of the firm together with all aspects of Human Resources. Hilary is also the Training Principle for the firm.
Rachel Houghton - Litigation Manager
Deborah Monks - IT Manager
Deborah joined Rushton Hinchy in 2017 as IT Manager and Lead Developer of the case management system.
Having started her career in 1996, Deborah has gained extensive experience within high growth and innovative legal businesses, specialising in debt recovery, conveyancing, personal injury, and credit hire.
Deborah has developed case management systems since 2008 and has worked on major internal growth greenfield projects at one of the UK's largest volume legal services organisations.
Deborah has an agile mindset and nurtures a high-performing team.
Rachel started her legal training with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. She completed her Legal Practice Course at Liverpool John Moores University graduating with Distinction and received the Law Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in her year. She is a qualified Solicitor and was made Partner in 2011.
Rachel has many years experience specialising in all aspects of personal injury for both Claimants and Defendants having previously worked for a leading national Defendant law firm. Having experience in dealing with both Claimant and Defendant claims gives Rachel an advantage in knowing how all sides of litigation work. She now manages two busy litigation departments specialising in road traffic accidents from inception through to trial.
Jane Barrow - Portal Team Manager
Jayne Edwards - Technical Claims Manager
Jayne commenced her legal training with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives gaining numerous qualifications and diplomas and was thereafter sponsored to complete the Legal Practice Course at Liverpool John Moores University where she was awarded a commendation. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2005 and was promoted to an Associate Solicitor in 2008. Jayne is an experienced lawyer having previously worked at a leading national Defendant law firm for many years practicing in a variety of employer liability claims, public liability claims, occupiers liability claims and complex injuries.
She joined Rushton Hinchy in 2011 and now manages the Technical Claims department which deals with different types of technical work including fraud, LVI, complex injuries, employer liability, pubic liability, occupiers liability and product liability claims.
Jayne considers the time spent at her previous Defendant employers puts her in a strong position as she now has experience from both sides in litigation.
Lynn is a Member of the LLP, the Accounts Manager and appointed COFA (Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration) for the firm. Lynn gained her expertise through working for a large legal practice for thirty years prior to joining Rushton Hinchy.
Lynn is responsible for all the accounting, payroll, and financial functions including regulatory issues affecting accounts and finance and ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules. Lynn is also a member of the Institute of Legal Finance & Management.
Jane started her legal career at a large Claimant law firm and has over 17 years experience in dealing with all personal injury litigation.
She commenced her legal training with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and has qualified as a Graduate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
Jane is now responsible for the management of our busy MOJ process team, which deals with both road traffic accident and employer/public liability claims.
Lee Jennings - Pre-Issue Team Manager
Lee started his legal career at a leading North West law firm in 2002 and has experience of dealing with all aspects of litigation. Formerly a Team Leader In-House for a large UK Insurer, Lee moved to Rushton Hinchy in 2008.
Having handled a variety of complex cases Lee is now Team Leader in two busy litigation departments. Lee has a wealth of experience in dealing with both Claimant and Defendant cases and is responsible for ensuring the smooth management of his teams along with Rachel Houghton.
Sarah commenced her legal career in 1999 at a large Claimant law firm.
Sarah has a wealth of experience in all aspects of road traffic accident claims.
Sarah is now head of the busy First Response Unit, responsible for ensuring that all new instructions are dealt with in accordance with Rushton Hinchy's policies.
